Coffee Cup Creative's #WritingPromptWednesday is here to help you on your creative writing journey!
Prompts may run the range from a few random words and phrases to thought-provoking questions and highly descriptive visual scenes. How you choose to use the prompts is up to you. Work one or all of them into a short story, comedic skit, or poem, or allow them to spark your imagination in an entirely different direction. There are no rules. Our only goal is you get YOU writing on a regular basis.
This week's prompts:
The scent of your grandmother's perfume
She smashed her violin
Peanuts
Feral polydactyl cats
A barista in Rome
Doing time
Seven days of gratitude
Check back weekly for new #creativewritingprompts!
“In good writing, words become one with things.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Gratitude always speaks to me, but the scent of my grandmother's perfume is the old cherry vanilla lotion. Today, you can buy a "new scent" of cherry vanilla lotion and soap from the same brand, but it's not the same. How much of that memory is contained in the white house on the corner with the old, high ceilings, and the window-unit air conditioners, and the smell of bacon cooking, and the pecan trees in the front yard, and the screen door to the porch, and the garden and the fig trees in the back yard?
